Alright, Alright, Alright….

Ok, so the title doesn’t have anything to do with the post. I watched Dazed and Confused last night and Matthew McConaughey said it. Love him. So. Much.

I digress.

I’m sitting here on my back porch at 4:47p, still in my pajamas, (yes today I suck at adulting) drinking a glass of wine and talking to Paul as he prepares for his trip to Sydney to have his Fiance Visa interview. *happy dance* I’m so anxious for this to be over and Paul to be with me!

As I was scouring the internet not too long ago, I found a blog called 5 Acres & A Dream written by Leigh Tate. In a nutshell, she’s living my dream. She’s who I want to be when I grow up. I just ordered her book today and am SO SO SO SO excited to read it. Her blog is amazing and you HAVE to check it out. Here’s a link to it. She has no idea who I am. If you do meander over there please tell her I sent you, she’s a celebrity in my mind.

She and her husband have found a home, property and restored it lovingly to their own little homestead complete with gardens, critters and most recently a 1500 water catchment tank. <– How exciting is THAT?!

I have a beautiful place now. A sweet 1.5ac in the suburbs of Houston. Unfortunately, a lot of it seems a unusable because of the septic system. It’s a leach field. If you have any ideas on how to use this area of land please, do tell! But it’s definitely not big enough for my dreams. Need to get on the ball and start developing a proper plan.

Oh how I love Texas sunsets, especially when it’s a perfect 76f with a lovely breeze. 🙂

In case you’re wondering what the little clear spot is in the middle of the wall on my porch, it’s what I call a Winston Window. He’s too fat and lazy to be able to jump up on the ledge to see out and he’s not tall enough so…there it is. An epic symbol of how I spoil my animals.

Till next time!

  1. I’ve heard of you now! LOL. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my blog. Your kind words made me so happy. Encouraging others is always a high point in my day. And really, we all start at the same place – the beginning. It’s exciting to think of what you’ll be experimenting with and learning.

You can indeed plant over that leach field. My most productive pecan resides in our drain field and produces the biggest and tastiest pecans. Just google “planting over septic drain field” and you will get tons of good information. Really, it’s a good thing because the ground is purifying the water and the plants are getting a fairly steady supply of water.

Also have to mention that I love the Winston Window. Nice!
